Madam Marie: Tell Me Some Signs My Husband Is Cheating On Me With My Friend

Dear Madam Marie,

I’m in the catering business in Southern California, recently married and have a very active social life.

My new husband Stan is a fantastic man, a perfect husband in every way and is also very outgoing and friendly. We have friends over just about every weekend at our home on the weekends and all of my girlfriends just love Stan to death. The problem I have, is that my last marriage ended after I found out that my then husband was having an affair with one of my best friends and they are now, in fact married.

Of course I have discussed the whole mess with Stan and even told him that if he ever cheated on me to please not do it with any of my friends. Well of course he insists that he would never cheat on me and in fact, told me that he feels angry that I am doubting him because of my previous husbands actions.

Needless to say, I don’t discuss it with Stan any more but all the same, I am wondering if you have any suggestions on how to tell if my husband is cheating on me with any of my friends.

Traumatized By a Bottom Feeder

Thanks for your letter and as a matter of fact I do have a few suggestions for you. In light of the fact that you have been traumatized in the way that you have by the bottom feeder that you were previously married to, it is perfectly understandable that you might have some concerns that it might happen again.

Baggage From a Previous Relationship

Your concerns however, are what is commonly referred to as “baggage” from a previous relationship, that can in fact poison the marriage that you are in now. Sure your last husband ended up in the sack with one of your friends but it is my guess that there was absolutely nothing that you could have done to prevent it, short of keeping him in a cage.

Leave Stan Alone, He’s a Great Guy!

Thats because unfortunately there are scumbags out there that have absolutely no scruples what so ever and you evidently had the misfortune of marrying one. I think it is a very wise decision to stop discussing the matter with your new husband because it is a matter that you are going to have to work out in your own mind.
